Heavy-duty diesel and gas generator sets used in power plants, data centers, and marine applications produce tremendous thermal energy. 

Managing the high-temperature jacket water (HT) and low-temperature charge air intercooler water (LT) separately requires complex plumbing, bulky external radiators, and precise thermostat regulation.

Using raw water directly in the engine leads to scaling, corrosion, and catastrophic engine failure, while remote dry coolers often face high pressure drops and freezing issues in winter.

Our Generator Dual-Circuit Cooling Skid Unit integrates the entire secondary heat exchange loop onto a single heavy-duty, pre-piped, and pre-wired steel skid. 

By utilizing high-efficiency gasketed plate heat exchangers (PHE) or robust shell-and-tube exchangers, it isolates the engine's internal clean water loop from the external glycol/water dry cooling loop.

Equipped with redundant backup pumps, automated 3-way thermostatic valves, and a local PLC control board, it guarantees constant thermal regulation and failsafe engine operation.

Our advanced cooling skid serves as a highly efficient heat-exchange bridge. It completely isolates the generator set's internal clean cooling loops (HT Jacket Water and LT Intercooler Water) from the external ethylene glycol dry-cooler loop, avoiding mineral scaling and corrosive deposits inside the engine block.

Machined from heavy structural H-beams and channel steel, shot-blasted and treated with industrial-grade multi-layer epoxy coating. Resistant to twist, corrosion, and structural shearing under harsh conditions.

Consists of corrugated SS316L stainless steel plates (0.5 - 0.6 mm thick) with specialized high-grade EPDM gaskets. Provides maximum turbulence and high heat-transfer coefficients. Easily dismountable for manual descaling and maintenance.

Built with seamless high-conductivity red copper tubes (or CuNi tubes for marine anti-corrosion applications) expanded into solid tubesheets. Designed to withstand heavy pulsation and thermal shocks from turbochargers.

Driven by a heavy-duty electronic actuator (e.g. Belimo / Honeywell / AMOT). Modulates bypass and cooling loops automatically in real-time, preventing cold thermal shocks to the engine block during startup.

Q1. Why should we use a dual-circuit cooling skid instead of a direct radiator cooling system?

A: Large engines are highly sensitive to water quality. Connecting engines directly to outdoor open radiators or raw water towers leads to internal calcium scaling, blockages, and acid-corrosion. Our dual-circuit skid isolates the engine's internal jacket water (which remains clean and pure) from the external loop. This completely eliminates scaling and corrosion inside the engine block, preventing catastrophic cylinder liner cracking and power derating

Q2. Can this skid operate in freezing regions (like Siberia or Northern Canada)?

A: Yes. The skid is specifically designed to run on ethylene glycol solutions (up to 55% concentration), allowing operation in temperatures down to -45°C without risk of freezing and pipe bursts. Furthermore, our motorized 3-way thermostat valve bypasses the external radiator entirely during startup, allowing the engine to reach its optimal operating temperature (80°C-85°C) rapidly

Q3. How does the redundant dual-pump failover function work?

A: The system integrates a smart PLC that continuously monitors fluid pressure and motor currents. If the duty pump experiences a fault (e.g., motor trip, impeller lock, or loss of pressure), the PLC detects the drop in flow within milliseconds, triggers an acoustic-optic alarm, and automatically starts the redundant standby pump in less than 2.5s without interrupting the engine cooling.
